
Pursuant to the stipulation in the article 94 of the proclamation no. 84/2023 of the Addis Ababa City Government provided to redefine the powers and duties of its executive organs, the city administration has reestablished the African Center for Early Childhood Development (AfC-ECD).
The city administration issued the new Regulation No177/2024 of the center’s reestablishment amendment as “African Center For Early Childhood Development, replacing the previous one – Regulation No. 142/2022 that was issued for the establishment of the “Addis Ababa City Administration Early Childhood Development Center of Excellence” earlier in 2022.
“The name ‘Addis Ababa City Administration Early Childhood Development Center of Excellence’ has been canceled and replaced with ‘African Center for Early Childhood Development’ “, the new regulation reads.
The new regulation states that it was necessary to amend the regulation to reestablish and rename “The Center of Excellence for Early Childhood Development” in a manner that shows the vision of the city administration reflects its continental mission and ambitious objective of being the best African city for raising children and working towards becoming one of the best in the implementation of early childhood care and development not only at the local but also at the continental level.
The regulation which was done at Addis Ababa on June 28, 2024, entered into effect as of June 28, 2024.
